Dublin 2017

Dublin 2017 was a great race, hosted in a great location, which has subsequently changed for 2018.

The swim was a little daunting given how low the tide was was on race morning, but by the time the finish of the swim was near, it was possible to not hit any rocks below! The sea was blue and there seemed to be no jelly fish as in previous years, thank goodness!

The bike was…interesting! I think we counted 58 speed bumps out of Dan Laguire to the end in the Phoenix Park! But the course was super fast despite this, however, in 2018 the course is taking a different location into the surrounding hills.

The run was in the beautiful park, lined with spectators. I was lucky to have my coach on the run course and knew that when I saw him I was leading the age-group. I think it was an 8 min lead, I realised that it was enough time to run to the loo at the next port-a-loo stop! I found the run tough having struggled with issues with my feet, so by the last lap I was ready to throw away my shoes! I had to dig pretty deep to get over the pain but races are never easy!

I finished first in my age-group and was delighted with the result. It was my last race of the season and was nice to finish on a high!

Onto 2018…….!
